What is GardenGames

More than games. Moments of real joy and presence

GardenGames is a collection of interactive web games built specifically for elderly people and those living with dementia. Each game is calm, intuitive, and rewarding. No reading required, no complicated controls, and no way to fail.

Games work directly in the browser on any device. A caregiver opens a link, hands over the screen, and the experience begins. Developed together with researchers at NTNU and the SENSE-GARDEN Association, our games are rooted in real welfare science and sensory care research.

Evidence-based design

Built on welfare technology research from NTNU and the SENSE-GARDEN project across Norway, Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands.

Multiplayer options

Several games support two players side by side, making them perfect for group sessions or playing together with a caregiver.

No install, browser-based

Pure browser-based. Log in to your account, open any game on any device, and play instantly. Works on touch screens, mouse, and projected setups.

Designed for home too

Not just care facilities. Families use GardenGames during visits too, on a tablet, laptop, or the living room TV.

Simple by design

Up and playing in seconds

GardenGames is designed so caregivers and family members can get started without any setup or technical knowledge.

Why it matters

Meaningful benefits backed by research

Interactive play makes a real difference for people in later stages of life, especially those with memory difficulties.

Cognitive Stimulation

Games like sorting, matching, and tracing gently activate memory, attention, and spatial thinking. No pressure, and no feeling of failure.

Emotional Wellbeing

Every game produces positive emotions. Sparkles, soft sounds, and little celebrations create moments of genuine delight that linger after play.

Social Connection

Multiplayer games give two people something lovely to do together, sparking real connection between residents or with a caregiver.

Motor Engagement

Touch-based games encourage gentle hand movement, coordination, and fine motor activity in a fun, low-stakes context.

Late-Stage Friendly

Many games require zero reading and zero experience. They work even for people at late stages of dementia who benefit from calm sensory stimulation.

Universal Access

One URL works on any device, any screen size, any operating system. No barriers between the person and their moment of joy.
